Pass Plus in Melksham
Statistics indicate that drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving career. In the first year of driving, one driver in five (20%) is involved in an accident. The main cause is generally down to a lack of driving experience, and this is where the Pass Plus Scheme has proven to be of benefit!
In addition to building upon your existing driving skills, the majority of new drivers, in particular those under the age of 21 years, might make a substantial saving on their insurance cost if taken with an established insurance company participating in the scheme. Your Adept instructor is fully qualified and registered to instruct Pass Plus in Chippenham.
What is Pass Plus? Pass Plus is a training scheme specifically aimed at new drivers, having been designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DVSA) with the assistance of insurers and the driving instruction industry. Pass Plus is designed specifically to build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will build on your ability to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, helping you to become more confident on the roads.
The Pass Plus course is made up of six practical modules which include:
- Driving in town
- Driving in all weathers
- Driving on rural roads
- Driving at night
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Driving on motorways
It may be necessary for your Smart instructor to cover some of the modules theoretically depending on the light and/or weather conditions at the time you attend the training sessions. Any person who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed by your instructor. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard. How much does Pass Plus cost? Fees for the Pass Plus course are displayed at page service prices and discounts are available. The course will take a minimum of six hours as stipulated by the DVSA. When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, and the savings should be viewed over a period of three years. You are likely to save more than you paid for the scheme in the very first year of insurance. How much can I save? The savings you might make in your insurance premium will depend on the insurance company you decide. There could be a saving of up to 35% off your first year's premium, especially for those younger drivers.
